Shannonside FC was founded in 2008 following the amalgamation of Shanagolden AFC and Foynes AFC and the history and origins of both clubs is kept within our crest and serve as a reminder to the successes of the past with a view to our future. The club caters for the communities of Shanagolden, Foynes, Barrigone, and the surrounding district, with a current membership of approximately 300, consisting of 18 teams from the local communities.

The club continues to grow from strength to strength, with increasing members on an annual basis. In recent years, our home pitch in Barrigone (V94 FA33) has undergone huge transformation with the help of the local community, local businesses and national grant assistance and we are incredibly proud of our achievements both on and off the field. Our association with Shanagolden and District Community Council also allows the club to play matches in the Community field (Captain Tim Madigan Park) (V94 89C3) and we are grateful for the use of these tremendous facilities that also include a changing rooms, showers and secure car park.
